Bradford rocks out for Youth Conference 6 Sep 2010
Bradford’s Abundant Life Conference Centre (ALCC) recently played host to the ten year anniversary of Rocknations, a conference for young people and their leaders. ALCC provided the perfect venue for the conference which aimed to teach those, aged 14 and over, strong leadership skills.

£21 million Carnegie Pavilion opens at the Yorkshire County C 27 Aug 2010
The Yorkshire County Cricket Club offers a range of facilities to suit any occasion from a large conference to a small business meeting or one-to-one interview.
The Club’s brand new £21 million development, the Carnegie Pavilion, officially opened in July 2010 during the Pakistan v Australia Test Match and is now taking bookings for winter 2010 – 2011.

Rose Bowl Plays Host to International Sports Conference 16 Aug 2010

A striking honeycomb design has been chosen with an ever-changing kaleidoscope of coloured lights which will come alive on an evening and change colour or pattern to reflect the mood of the arena event at the time. Perhaps purple if a certain ‘artist’ requests - or maybe pink for Pink!

White Rose Awards 2010 Finalists 10 Aug 2010
Finalists for the 2010 White Rose Awards have been announced.
Judging of the White Rose Awards is undertaken by a panel of independent judges chaired by Barbara Woroncow OBE.
Shortlisted finalists will now be mystery visited with the results being presented to the panel for final judging in September, which will further support the entry material already submitted.
This year's winners will be announced at a spectacular black tie event on Monday 4th October at the Yorkshire Event Centre at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.

The latest Meetings Industry Association (MIA) ‘Pathfinder’ research has confirmed the continuing importance to meeting planners and to meeting and event suppliers of achieving corporate social responsibility (CSR) objectives, with 40 per cent of survey respondents expecting to increase their focus on CSR. The challenge, of course, can be how best to do this, not only in the planning and marketing of events but also in their production and on-site management. How do you ensure that events deliver a worthwhile social legacy and a tangible benefit to the city or community in which they are held?

Leeds Celebrates Host City Status as part of England’s World Cup bid 16 Dec 2009
Leeds has been announced as a host city at the 2018 FIFA World Cup should England be named as the host country.
The Football Association made the announcement this afternoon (Wednesday) that Leeds will join 11 other cities across the country to stage matches in 2018.
The news was met with cheers and celebrations by Leeds City Council, Marketing Leeds and Leeds United which have worked together to prepare and submit the bid on behalf of the Leeds City Region*.

Last month (July 09) saw Well Met’s impressive Headingley Campus play host to a celebration evening for the national superstore chain, Asda.
The event, which was attended by just under 600 Asda employees and held in the Headingly Campus marquee, was to recognise the hard work, long service and achievements of its colleagues. The format for the day consisted of arrival drinks from 10.30am before settling down to lunch, pre-awards entertainment and a speech from the Chief Executive of Asda, Andy Bond. It's been known as the Golden Lion for more than 100 years but after a £1m refurbishment and name change, one of the oldest hotels in Leeds been brought bang up to date.

The city of Bradford has always offered excellent value for money to conference and event organisers and now this value has been officially acknowledged by the British Conference Venues Survey.
The annual British Conference Venues Survey researches venues across the UK to gain a national perspective on how the meetings industry is performing. The survey revealed that Bradford offers excellent value for money when compared to similar venues across the UK. The average day delegate rate in the city was £34 compared to a national average of £39 and a 24 hour rate of £117 compared to a national average of £130. more...

The Show is taking place on Wednesday 12th March in newly opened Savile’s Hall in Leeds – Leed’s largest meeting and exhibition venue with 3,700 sq metres of space. Savile’s Hall forms part of the Royal Armouries suite of function rooms.

Casino Verdict : Leeds Vows to Ensure Casino Project Brings Maximum Benefit to the City 30 Jan 2007
The team behind Leeds’s successful bid to secure a licence for a new large casino has vowed to ensure that any new casino will play an instrumental role in the city’s reneration programme and that vulnerable people are protected from the negative aspects of gambling.
Reacting to today’s announcement from the Casino Advisory Panel (CAP) that Leeds has been recommended to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport as a location for a new large casino, Leader of Leeds City Council, Councillor Andrew Carter said:
“Despite reservations we felt that it was important we took the opportunity to compete with other major cities for a slice of the huge regeneration potential a new casino
could bring to Leeds. There is no doubt the casino complex will generate jobs, however we do not underestimate the possible social impact and we must focus on making sure vulnerable people are protected from any downsides.
“We live in a competitive situation where Leeds desperately needs regeneration funding and the Government has made it clear that a casino complex is an important vehicle for this regeneration.
“Independent research shows that a new casino complex will generate over 700 fulltime jobs, attract £21million of new investment and bring an extra one million people
into the city each year. Our job now is to manage the process so that the new casino brings the widest possible benefits to local people and businesses in Leeds and the
wider Yorkshire area. We are well aware that this project needs to be managed carefully to mitigate potential social impacts, and our focus now is on delivering the
best possible project for the city.” more...
