Ambassadors Receive a Sneak Preview of new Well Met Facilities Monday 12th October 2009

Faculty of Arts & Society Building at Well Met Conferencing

Well Met Conferencing at Leeds Met University has hosted a number of events during September, to showcase their new facilities and increase the profile of their successful Ambassador Programme.

The first saw Well Met Conferencing hold a sneak preview event at the new state of the art halls of residence – Carnegie Village, ideally located at the picturesque Headingley Campus. The breakfast event, which commenced from 8.30am and was complete with complimentary bacon sandwiches, allowed delegates to view the new facilities including bedrooms, shared living space and impressive views over the Leeds Met sports grounds. Over 50 people attended the show-round with tours taking place every 15 minutes for two hours.

The pioneering Carnegie Village offers high-specification, all year round residential conference facilities to delegates. Conference delegates can take full advantage of the 23 rooms available all year round which will increase to 273 – 370 out of term time (between 29th June and 15th September). The Village is close to all the dedicated conference facilities on-site with rates starting from just £35 for room only and £40 b&b.

Well Met Conferencing then hosted a similar exclusive viewing, this time at the new state of the art, Faculty of Arts & Society building – Broadcasting Place, situated at Civic Quarter Campus. Over 60 people attended the evening event which was complete with wine and canapés for all delegates. Fantastic live entertainment was also provided by the Leeds Youth Jazz Rock Orchestra which accompanied the guests’ tour of the large seminar space on the ground floor and up the spiral staircase, appreciating the Centre’s impressive and unprecedented architectural design, to the facilities above.

Both events gave delegates an exclusive opportunity to experience the new venues and their facilities as well as gain an increased knowledge and sign-up to become part of the Leeds Met Ambassador Programme. The Ambassador Programme, which is already running very successfully in the city, was set up to recruit staff as ‘Ambassadors’ with a remit to actively promote the University’s events and conference facilities to organisations and societies of which they are members. The Programme, which aims to bring in £1million worth of business before the end of the year, also gives Ambassadors the opportunity to earn some extra income for their faculty.
