Harrogate hotel wins at Hotel Cateys, deliciouslyorkshire and Yorkshire Life

One of Yorkshire’s leading luxury hotels, Rudding Park, has announced a hat trick of wins at three recent award ceremonies. The new accolades bring the hotel’s award wins for 2009 to five.

Taking to the podium for the second time this year is Rudding Park’s head housekeeper, Rachael Park, who won ‘Housekeeper of the Year’ at the Caterer and Hotelkeeper’s Hotel Cateys on Friday 6 November 2009. Rachel also won the coveted AA ‘Housekeeper of the Year’ in March. This is the third consecutive year that Rudding Park has won a Hotel Cateys award following wins for the ‘Front Office Team’ in 2007 and the ‘Conference and Banqueting Team’ in 2008.

Winning the deliciouslyorkshire Awards’ eminent ‘Champion’ title is Stephanie Moon, Rudding Park’s consultant chef. Stephanie wowed guests with her acclaimed ‘Yorkshire Food Heroes’ cooking at the deliciouslyorkshire Awards ceremony which took place at Rudding Park on Monday 9 November 2009.

The hotel also took the sought after ‘Hotel of the Year’ title at the Yorkshire Life Food and Wine Awards in October reinforcing its position as one of the world’s ‘Top 30 Best Luxury Hotels’ which was announced at the TripAdvisor® Travelers’ Choice® 2009 awards in January.

Rachael’s success story
Double award winner and head housekeeper, Rachael Park, said: “To be awarded two such notable industry awards in one year is phenomenal and I still can’t quite believe it.

“I owe an enormous amount of this success to my incredible staff who never failed to impress me. Their commitment, attention to detail and team spirit have all helped me achieve these accolades for the hotel.”

Rachael has been head housekeeper since Rudding Park opened in 1997. Her remit over the last 12 years has grown to encompass not only the 49 rooms of the hotel but the fifteen room conference and banqueting facility, the golf clubhouse and golf academy as well as the new luxury self-catering holiday lodges.

Rachael won the ‘Housekeeper of the Year’ title at the Hotel Cateys in recognition of her friendly and approachable personality as a team leader and for the support she provides her staff with matters outside of work. Her commitment to promoting Rudding Park as an environmentally friendly establishment was also rewarded as was her impressive budget management and her ongoing dedication to delivering consistently high standards.

Over the moon
Still reeling from her surprise ‘Champion’ win at the deliciouslyorkshire Awards, the Clocktower Restaurant’s consultant chef, Stephanie Moon, comments: “This is such an incredible honour and I am truly delighted to be awarded such a prestigious award. To have this level of recognition from such an esteemed panel of judges is amazing. However, it is largely thanks to my formidable team of chefs and thesupport Rudding Park has given me over the last six years that this award has been possible.”

The deliciouslyorkshire judges considered Stephanie as someone who is first and foremost dedicated to promoting and developing the region’s food and drink industry. She impressed the panel with her passion for locally sourced food and her ability to influence and inspire staff and customers.

Rudding Park first won Yorkshire Life’s ‘Hotel of the Year’ award in 1999, just two years after the hotel opened. The ‘Hotel of the Year’ award recognises the overall quality of Rudding Park, as shown by winning the TripAdvisor® ‘Top 30 Best Luxury Hotels’ award for two consecutive years. Over the years, numerous special guests have stayed at Rudding Park including Bill Clinton, George Bush Snr, Michael Gorbachev, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and John Cleese.
