Mint Hotel Leeds Wins Prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects Award Friday 27th May 2011

Mint Hotel Leeds has been recognised for its architectural excellence in the Royal Institute of British Architects Awards (RIBA) 2011.

For 46 years, the RIBA Awards have reflected the health of British architecture and Mint Hotel Leeds demonstrates that even in constrained times, working with talented architects, can indeed achieve architectural excellence. Architectural company Allies and Morrison is creditable for the build along with main contractor Laing O’Rourke.

David Orr, founder, Mint Hotel comments “I am really delighted that our Leeds hotel has received deserved recognition from the RIBA. It is always our guiding principle to underpin and enable the enjoyment of Mint Hotel with great design and architecture, providing special urban spaces and spaces within buildings for our customers to enjoy.

Leeds is a special hotel as it was the first where I really felt we showed off the full potential of our new signature space SkyLounge, our very own creation. The combination of private dining, conference facilities, external terraces and a panoramic destination lounge bar gives the hotel commanding views over the city that it celebrates and brings that view to visitors and residents of Leeds alike. Crucially however it is City Café, Granary Lounge and the Lobby that really engage the hotel with the ground at the wonderful new enclave, Granary Wharf. Al Fresco shaded sun terraces facing south over the Leeds to Liverpool canal, and a new square to the north provide a new setting alongside the Station, which will soon have direct access to the platforms.”

Mint Hotel Leeds is situated in the heart of the city centre within the Granary Wharf development, offering 333 guest rooms and suites, award-winning City Café restaurant, Granary Lounge featuring an extensive whisky library and outside terrace and Skylounge rooftop bar exposing dramatic views of the city. The hotel also features impressive function space including meeting rooms with private balconies and all with floor-to-ceiling windows.
