Carnegie Village secures its position in the conference and event market Wednesday 13th January 2010

Carnegie Village, the pioneering Well Met Conferencing facility, is already proving to be a popular choice for buyers with bookings already secured well into 2010. July 2010 is already fully booked with three key associations – the Leisure Studies Association; Rugby Football Union and the Language Study Centre.

Taking full advantage of a number of Well Met’s facilities, the Language Study Centre has booked over 400 rooms at Carnegie Village along with a number of classrooms across the campus. The group, which is bringing a total value of £174,000 into the centre, will also make use of the sports facilities and leisure activities on site.

Using Carnegie Village as their base, the Rugby Football Union will make the most of Well Met’s other striking venues the Gandhi Hall and the James Graham Lecture Theatres as they host a one day residential conference and gala dinner. 70 bedrooms have been booked for the event on the 2nd July – an economic impact value of £6,000.

Finally, the Leisure Studies Association has booked a total of 250 rooms for a two day residential conference and gala dinner, once again utilising the excellent facilities of the Gandhi Hall and the James Graham lecture theatres.
Kate Pitcher, Business Development Manager for Well Met Conferencing, said:

“In such a difficult economic period it is fantastic to see that the Carnegie Village is already booked up to capacity in a number of months in 2010. The venue boasts some of the best sporting facilities in the country combined with pioneering residential accommodation. ”

Situated on the Headingley Campus, the new state of the art halls of residence have already welcomed the likes of the England Rugby Union Junior Squad, teams from the Paralympics, the South African Olympic Delegation and the FA. The pioneering new centre offers high-specification, all year round residential conference facilities including 479 residential bedrooms, shared living space and impressive views over the Leeds Met sports grounds.
