A new report just out reveals that Leeds is now the 4th most popular destination in the UK for conferences and events.
The annual British Meetings & Events Industry Survey (BMEIS) 2011/12 – which provides valuable research into the buying trends of event organisers – reveals that Leeds has jumped up the top 20 destination leader board for conference and events, now ranking 4th in the UK ahead of the likes of Liverpool, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Ryanair Adds 3rd Aircraft to Leeds Bradford Base and 6 New Routes 7 Nov 2011
Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (3rd Nov) announced that it will base a third aircraft at Leeds Bradford airport for summer 2012 which will allow Ryanair to add six new routes (26 in total) from Leeds Bradford to Chania (Crete), Corfu, Dinard, Kos, Milan (Bergamo) and Tenerife and extend its popular Kaunas and Riga routes to its summer 2012 schedule. Ryanair’s 26 routes (and three based aircraft) will deliver over 900,000 passengers p.a. at Leeds Bradford Airport, sustaining 900 jobs.

Leeds United Football Club is to open its own museum in the newly-redeveloped East Stand of its home ground in spring 2012.

Bradford is Crowned as England’s Curry Capital 9 Dec 2010
Narrowly pipped by Glasgow to the overall crown of Curry Capital of Britain, the bid presented by Bradford helped secure the city second place and title as England’s Curry Capital.
Peter Groves, Curry Capital of Britain Competition Organiser, said:
“Bradford presented the most creative bid out of all the cities, drawing on several aspects of the city to fully illustrate the impact curry houses and their culture have on the region and their local community.”
