The Yorkshire & Humber region is an enthusiastic supporter of the 2012 games and there are real benefits to be gained for the region in the areas of sport, community, culture, business and tourism. The Yorkshire Tourist Board (YTB) with significant backing from the Regional Development Agency, Yorkshire Forward, has recently taken on the responsibility for managing and co-ordinating the region’s work to maximise these benefits.
This is quite probably, a once in a lifetime chance to be instrumental in creating opportunities for the region,
through a highly anticipated, global event. The position of Manager will work closely with the Chair of the Yorkshire
Committee and play a key role in the delivery of ‘Yorkshire Gold’ – the regional response strategy. You will be
responsible for driving the project to reap the huge opportunities on offer, before during and after the event itself and be involved in managing all administration tasks such as securing additional funding and controlling budgets,
through to promoting/communicating regional interests and engaging/developing partnership working.
Preferably educated to degree level or equivalent, with experience of developing strategies and business plans
you will need to demonstrate the necessary management ability to lead a project of this calibre. In addition,
you will be an excellent communicator and influencer with experience of working collaboratively with a range of
partners. Any press or PR experience would only add value to your application.
