Leeds City Museum is located in the stunning Leeds Institute building on Millennium Square.
In autumn 2005 refurbishment work started to turn the old Civic Theatre into an exciting new museum for the city. The lottery funded project saw the Grade II listed Institute Building in Millennium Square transformed into a state-of-the-art museum. Opened in September 2008 the museum offers a magnificent setting for a range of corporate functions.
Central Arena: The impressive Central Arena, the focal point of the museum, is the largest space in the museum and can be used for a variety of events including presentations, dinners, and conferences. The arena is able to seat up to 250 people for a dinner event and can accommodate an audience of up to 400 for a presentation.
The Conference Suite: There are two conference rooms on the lower ground floor, both tastefully decorated to a high specification, and breakout space for refreshments. The Denny Room will accommodate up to 60 theatre and a variety of other flexible layouts and comes equipped with data projector, screen, TV and DVD/VCR. The Thoresby Room will accommodate up to 90 theatre style and a variety of other flexible layouts and comes equipped with interactive white board, data projector and laptop
Galleries: Wide variety of exciting and interactive galleries including Natural Sciences, Story of Leeds, Ancient Worlds plus others provide a stunning setting to host champagne receptions or pre-dinner drinks and offer guests a private view of the galleries. Why not draw inspiration from our exhibitions and collections. The museum is an excellent venue to hold a themed event.
Hold your event in Leeds City Museum and come face-to-face with the Leeds Tiger, step into 'Ancient Worlds' and see the final resting place of the Leeds Mummy and even dig for fossils in the 'Life on Earth' gallery.
